The Donkokrom District Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of one Joseph Lumosu, a 36-year-old trained teacher, who defiled and impregnated a 13-year-old primary six girl.
Mr Lumosu, after impregnating his victim, has been on the run since last year.
The minor, who is also an orphan and currently has no one to take care of her, gave birth three months ago.
The Kwahu Afram Plains North offices of the Social Welfare, the police, and the district court, have launched a search for the fugitive teacher.
Ernest Ewusie, the district Social Welfare officer, speaking to Class News’ Eastern Regional correspondent, McAnthony Dagyenga, said taking care of the child and the baby was a challenge.
“We have some challenge here in respect of a teacher, who has impregnated one of the pupils here. The girl was 13 years,” he stated.
“She has delivered, but the challenge is that we are not getting the teacher, and to maintain the girl and the child is a big problem…so we are having some challenges. We will like to get to the teacher because his salary had been coming, only that they have now blocked the salary. So, if we can get him, we can still work out how to get some money for the girl.”
Mr Ewusie disclosed that the girl gave birth some three months ago, and pleaded with the relatives of the teacher responsible, to come forward and take responsibility for the upkeep of the victim and baby.
“…How to maintain the girl and the child is the problem, so, we still want the man. We are praying a relative of the guy will come forward. It is a matter of the man taking care of the child. All that we have heard is that he is just roaming and I am sure he is looking for one of these private schools to go and teach, but that is not the best …because the girl has lost her father and mother, so she is an orphan,” he added.
