Sir John on NPP Campaign Manager position: My favourite is Akufo Addo’s choice

johnFormer General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie says he trusts the party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo, to choose the best person to lead the party’s campaign in 2016.

Mr Owusu-Afriyie, known popularly as Sir John, says the soon-to-be-named Campaign Manager for NPP should be someone who is a grassroots person.

“We need a person who understands the party structures, a grassroots person who is prepared to listen and work with the structures. Not a know-all and be-all person and I believe that these are some of the considerations that go into the choice of a Campaign Manager”, he said on Newsnite on Joy FM, Wednesday.

Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to name his Campaign team with  the names of three key candidates coming up as likely chairmen – former party Chairman, Peter Mac Manu; former General Secretary, Dan Botwe and thrice failed party Chairman contender, Stephen Ntim.

However, reports suggests Mr Mac Manu would get the nod.

According to Sir John, whoever Akufo Addo selects is the right man for the job.

“My favourite is the one that Nana Akufo Addo brings”, he states.

Whoever the NPP selects as Campaign Manager would have to be someone who has risen through the ranks of the party hierarchy and commands the respect and trust of all true or perceived factions within the NPP.
