School for the Blind and Deaf receives books

Miss Sophia Bondzie, the Central Regional representative of the just-ended Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), has distributed 1,000 Sasso-customised exercise books to children of the Cape Coast School for the Deaf and Blind.

The donation was part of her prize package as a contestant in the reality show in which Samara Groups of Companies, the producers of Sasso insecticide mosquito spray and coil and sponsors of the Ghana’s Most Beautiful programme, awarded each contestant 10,000 Sasso-customised exercise books to be distributed to pupils in their regions.

The move was meant for all the 10 contestants in the show to push their community enlightenment education further as the sponsors believed that education is the key to success.

Miss Bondzie she had chosen to distribute the books in 10 less-endowed districts and municipalities in the Region, including the Cape Coast School for the Deaf and Blind.

She had she had already distributed 1,000 exercise books each to needy but brilliant pupils in the Assin North and Assin South municipalities, Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District and the Mfantsiman Municipality.

Statistics show that the Central Region records the highest cases of teenage pregnancy in the country, a situation she described as unacceptable.

According to her, the Region is noted to be the hub of tourism and the cradle of education and must not be tagged with the teenage pregnancy menace.

Mr. Sedrick Nartey Ologo, the Marketing Manager of Samara Group of Companies, said the donation was part of the company’s social responsibilities.
