Located in his birthplace, Awukugua-Akuapim, on the Akuapem Ridge, about 55km from Accra, the shrine is recognized as a tourist site and holds relics of the popular fetish priest who performed many wonders; including the conjuring of the golden stool, the divine symbol of the Ashanti Empire.
Upkeep of the historic shrine has fallen to the descendents of the priest. They have done this through family contributions and minimal fees charged to visitors of the site.
This, they say, is not enough and they fear the site will fall into further disrepair.
The family called on the Government to assist them in better maintaining the site and making it more attractive to tourists and students.
