He was reacting to allegations that the NPP supported the actress in organizing the 16 May, 2015 dumsor vigil where scores of Ghanaians took to the street to protest the worsening power crisis.
A member of the NPP Baah Acheamfour, had alleged on Okay FM that John Boadu included in a budgetary allocation to the party executives that he (John Boadu) took Ȼ5,000 from the party’s coffers for actress Yvonne Nelson to support her dumsor campaign.
“John Boadu said he took Ȼ5,000 from the party and gave it to Yvonne Nelson. So first of all, I am asking if he truly gave that money to Yvonne Nelson? I really want Yvonne Nelson to help the party by coming out to clarify if John Boadu actually gave her the money. NPP as a party had nothing to do with what Yvonne Nelson and her team were doing but John claimed they requested for support from the party”.
Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz review) Mr Akomea said “NPP has never given any money, not even a pesewa to Yvonne Nelson”
Nana Akomea in denying the claims asked Mr Acheamfour to provide evidence to support his claim.
He said it was not true that Mr Acheamfuor is a member of the NPP communications team.
“I am the communication director, I can tell you I know all our members and I’m telling you I don’t know the gentleman. He is not a member of the communications team” he added.
He advised that the Yvonne Nelson to pursue legal action against those spreading the falsehood.
Meanwhile, Actress Yvonne Nelson has debunked the report in a twitter post.
She said “no one took any money from NPP, if anyone alleges that, the person should say it publicly and we will sue the person and make them prove it. “Various parties need to get their act together. What my team and I did, was for GHANA! You wanna spread fake pathetic stories, good luck.
“For those who wake up everyday writing and saying dumb stories. Be warned! One of you will be sued one of these days. Stupid 5K story”.
