Mozambique’s government declares red alert due to drought


Mozambique’s government has declared a red alert to cope with a drought which has hit the southern and central areas of the country.

Government spokesman, Mouzinho Saide, said the red alert is aimed at boosting government’s intervention and identifying the assistance people need.

About one-point-four million people in the country are suffering from hunger because of a drought which has hit the entire region.
