Mampong chiefs to demonstrate against govt

The Chiefs and people of Mampong Akuapem in the Eastern Region have hinted that they will demonstrate against the government over the total neglect and poor state of the Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital at Mampong Akuapem.

According to the chiefs, the Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital is gradually collapsing due to the deplorable state of its facilities.

The Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital which was one of the finest hospitals in Ghana can now be described as an abandoned health facility and as a result, many residents in and around Mampong prefer to seek health care in Accra or Koforidua.

Akuapem Mampong Nifahene Nana Nyarko ll in an interview on Adom News said almost everything at the hospital starting from the wards, kitchen, laundry, and laboratory is not working.

He indicated that the hospital among other things does not have sterilizers, its laboratories have been shut down and the washrooms are also nothing good to write home about.

Nana Nyarko ll noted that the chiefs will not sit aloof and watch the hospital collapse totally as it celebrates its 55th Anniversary in September.

He charged the government to do something about the deplorable nature of the hospital before September or face their wrath.

Adom news Maxwell Kudekor visited the hospital to acquaint himself with the state of the facility but the management of the hospital declined to grant him an audience.

The administrator of the hospital, Mr. Frank told him that he cannot grant him any interview because the Medical Superintendent has not given him the mandate to do so.
