The Foxes youth team coach has showered praise on the Ghana defender after his performance against Reading in the U21 league

Daniel Amartey has received a huge approval from Leicester City youth team manager Steve Beaglehole, tipping the Ghana defender for greatness after he played his first competitive game in their 1-0 defeat to Reading in the U21 league this week.

The 21-year-old joined the English Premier League leaders from Danish giants FC Copenhagen in January but lacked match fitness since he last played in December and was given a role in the youth team.

Amartey played all 90 minutes, with Leicester boss Claudio Renieri watching from the bench.

“While it was a difficult game for him [Daniel Amartey], not knowing too many of the lads yet and being in difficult conditions, he looked very comfortable,” Beaglehole told the club’s website.

“He looks like he will be a very good addition to the first team squad I’m sure. I saw a lot of positives from his performance, as did the manager, Claudio Ranieri, who came down to watch him and sat on the bench, which was of course great for our young lads to experience too,” he added.

Amartey is likely to be named in Leicester squad that will travel to the Emirate Stadium this weekend to lock horns with third-place Arsenal.
