Kotoko-bound Kingson ready to make Black Stars return, criticizes Braimah

Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson has revealed his readiness to make a return to the Black Stars if he is handed a call-up by Coach Avram Grant.

The 36-year-old, who has not played for the Black Stars since the friendly match against South Korea on June 7, was called up for a World Cup qualifier against Zambia in 2013.

“If I am called up, I will return. It will not be tough for me to perform in post for the team (Black Stars) because I have been actively training on my own,” Kingson told Happy FM.

The former Wigan Athletic and Great Olympics goalie has been without a club since leaving Balikesirspor, but is now in talks with Asante Kotoko over a transfer deal.

Kingson has also criticized Black Stars goalkeeper, Razak Braimah, for his repeated desire to leave his goal-line early and make untimely saves when a shot approaches.

Braimah’s lapses contributed to Ghana conceding 3 goals at the group stage of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. The Spain based shot-stopper was off his goal-line when Mandla Masango struck the 17th minute volley in Tuesday evening’s 2-1 win over South Africa.

“He (Braimah) doesn’t know how to position himself well in post. I also have a problem with his timing and calculation in making saves,” the ex-Galatasary glovesman added.
