Medeama lost 0-1 to Berekum Chelsea in an outstanding Ghana Premier League fixture on Wednesday March 30, to drop just above the relegation dragnet.

Nicholas Opoku fetched the only goal of the match as early as the seventh minute as Medeama’s domestic troubles continued.

Medeama were hoping to return to winning ways after crashing out of the MTN FA Cup on Sunday.

But the two-time FA Cup champions failed to recover from Opoku’s early goal.

The Tarkwa-based side travelled to the Golden City Park without their head coach, Tom Strand, whose future has become a matter of intense conjecture in the local media.

Medeama will host Bechem United on Sunday March 3 before travelling to Sudan to tackle Al Shendi in the first leg tie of the CAF Confederations Cup on April 10.
