Reports making rounds that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has cancelled some examination papers in some Senior High Schools (SHSs) are false and should be discarded, Rev Jonathan Bettey, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service (GES) has said.
Media reports on Thursday July 7 indicated that a notice from the GES highlighted that the results of Adisadel College, Aggrey Memorial, Krobo Girls, Accra Academy, Osei Tutu, Twifo-Praso SHS and Ideal College had all been cancelled.
The said notice released in the name of one Mrs Sandra Baidoo as Head of WAEC added that the schools were involved in numerous examination malpractices, which forced WAEC to cancel their papers.
It further called on all heads of the named schools to report to the headquarters of GES as soon as possible.
But speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5 FM on Friday July 8, Rev Bettey said: “I want the public to understand that that information in circulation is not true.
I also heard about it yesterday that West Africa Examinations Council cancelled some results of some schools. It is never true.
I called the West Africa Examinations Council PRO and made enquiries; what she told me was that there wasn’t anything of that sort and the name that appeared in that document, there is nobody in that office bearing the name Mrs Sandra… so the information in circulation is false. We want the public to never take this seriously”.
