GES to make Cadet Corps in schools compulsory to instill discipline in students


The Ghana Education Service, is considering compulsory establishment of cadet corps in SHS as a means of instilling discipline in students.

This will take off after a three-year research is conducted into the performance of students who join the corps from the first to the final year.

The Director General of the GES, Jacob Kor, who disclosed this at the inauguration of the board of the National Cadet Corps said if the students perform creditably, it will be made compulsory for all Senior High Schools to form cadet corps.

The Director General of the GES, Jacob Kor. Meanwhile, the National Cadet Corps Coordinator, Nicholas Nii Tettey Amarteifio, gave the assurance that the board will work hard to achieve its mandate.
