Let me tell you a story.
A young man was favoured to win the 400 meter race in the Barcelona Summer Olympics.

However, disappointment came about 250 meters from the finish line. His hamstring got torn and he hobbled to a halt, and then fell to the ground in pain.

As stretcher bearers made their way over to him, he knew he had to make a decision. So, despite the pain, he stood up again and began to hobble along the track.

Suddenly, a huge man pushed his way through the crowds, fighting the security; the man was his father.

“You don’t have to do this,” he told his weeping son.

“Yes, I do,” the son declared.

“Well then,” replied his dad, “we’re going to finish this together!”

The father wrapped his arms around his son and helped him hobble through the track.

Shortly before the finish line, the father let go of his son and the son completed the race with a standing ovation from the crowd of 65,000.

Derek Redmond may not have finished first place…but he managed to finish his race!

Hebrews 12:1bKJV

…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us , and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Despite the pain and tears, he was determined to finish his race. He gave his all! He was motivated by a love so strong from a father who was by his side.

Why do you think the father came to help him? The determination on the son’s face to finish the race despite the pain. He wanted to finish the race. If he had laid on the track, he would have been carried away and never finished his race.

God sees our frustration and challenges, but despite the pain and hurt, if we are still fighting, if we fall and get back up; no matter how many times we fall, HE will come to our rescue.

The same way, when you don’t give up, the universe conspires in your favour. Help will come to you when you least expect it.

You are hurting

You are in pain

You failed once

You lost many times

You are at the verge of quitting

Be determined to finish STRONG!

Don’t worry if others are ahead; focus on your own race and finish.

Let’s keep walking!

We shall win

Maybe not immediately

But if we don’t QUIT

We shall DEFINITELY win!
