The College of Engineering (CoE) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has held a career fair on the theme “Engineering Excellence for National Development”.
The fair is aimed at exposing and helping to prepare students for industry as they go through their programmes. The programme was held on 25th and 26th February, 2016.
Opening the fair, Prof. Innocent Ampadu stated that the event was a platform for students and the industrial partners of the College to meet to deliberate on projects, internships, national service opportunities and to conduct aptitude tests for recruitment.
Prof. Ampadu commended the industrial partners who had supported the event since its inception. He was also grateful for their support in organizing the College Awards.
This year’s fair had exhibitors from the telecommunications, power, construction, mining, manufacturing, oil and gas industries.
There were exhibitions and presentations from Vodafone, MTN, Odebrecht and Ghana National Petroleum Company. Others were Technip, Tullow Ghana Limited, Silver Star Ghana Limited among others. The presentation from the companies is intended to educate students on what is expected of them upon graduating especially in terms of qualifications, skills and personal strengths.
