Black Stars trio to appear before Dzamefe Commission

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the happenings surrounding Ghana’s poor showing at the 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup has handed invitations to three squad members currently plying their trades locally.

Aduana Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams was originally the only local player in the Black Stars’ final squad but post tournament activities has led to two other members – Fatau Dauda and Rashid Sumaila making a return to local football.

The trio has therefore been invited to appear and give their side to non-technical issues that contributed to the team’s poor performance to the Justice Senyo Dzamefe-led commission on Tuesday, October 28.

The three-member Commission was stunned by the Black Stars’ failure to appear last Thursday despite officially inviting them in a letter through the GFA but will make do with the locals in the coming days first as they make arrangements for suitable dates with the foreign based contingent.

Footy-ghana.com also understands that individual members of the Black Stars management team – Yaw Boateng Gyan, Kwame Ofosu Bamfo (SIKKENS) and Felix Ansong will follow the steps of Moses Armah who appeared before the commission last week.

Also, the Spokesperson of the Ghana FA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara and other members of the ‘Ghana FA management’ (per the account given by President Kwasi Nyantakyi) like Emergency Committee member George Afriyie and acting scribe Emmanuel Gyimah will be giving accounts of their roles to the team as they benefited from the $577,500 appearance fee allocated to management.

Erstwhile Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, whom footy-ghana.com understands benefitted from the kitty would reappear alongside the Sports Ministry’s Chief director Alhaji Abudulai Yakubu and accountant Prosper Akpasu.

The Commission is currently on a tour of selected cities where it is holding nationwide zonal public fora aimed at soliciting inputs to be factored in its final recommendations to government.

The Prempeh Assembly hall in Kumasi will host the next sitting of the Commission today.
