The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said the election of Nana Akufo-Addo as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) does not pose any serious danger to the party in its quest to win power again in 2016.
They described Nana Akufo-Addo as an old foe who they are capable of defeating without much effort.
Nana Akufo-Addo, the three-time flagbearer of the NPP promised to deliver victory after receiving massive endorsement from delegates over the weekend.
But Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, George Lawson thinks otherwise.
“We are rather encouraged [to] this time again beat him. This one, not in his own backyard…We’ve beaten him in his own backyard when they were in power, and we will beat him again and this time when we beat him, we hope he will not go to the law Courts again.”
On his part, the General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah congratulated Nana Addo on his election. He said the PNC is rather encouraged to beat the NDC in the upcoming elections.
He is however optimistic Akufo-Addo will be no match for a future PNC presidential candidate.
“Let me assure the nation that we know Nana Addo very well. We know his strengths, and we know his weakness. The PNC will strategise in order to ensure that we come top ahead of Nana in the 2016 elections…All that is left for us [is] to choose a formidable candidate and [hand] a devastating blow to [both] Nana Akufo-Addo and President Mahama in the election.”
