Nana Obiri Boahen, a deputy general secretary of the party on one hand and Nana Yaw Osei, a lawyer from SK Boafo Chambers gate crashed when the case involving George Kumi a disgruntled parliamentary aspirant of the party in the Sunyani East who lost the contest was called.
Mr. Kumi had sued the Electoral Commission, (EC), the NPP and Ameyaw Cheremeh, incumbent MP after he had lost the fiercely contested parliamentary primary to Mr. Cheremeh.
A source narrating the turn of events to DAILY GUIDE yesterday said Nana Obiri Boahen had been authorized by Prof. Mike Oquaye, Chairman of the Constitutional and Legal Committee to represent the party in the matter but Kwabena Agyepong was also said to have engaged the services of another lawyer without the knowledge of Nana Obiri Boahen.
According to the source, the Sunyani based lawyer who appeared not so enthused challenged Nana Osei that Kwabena Agyepong cannot do that without the knowledge of the Legal and Constitutional Committee of the party.
It further stated that the regional secretary of the party was also in court claiming that Paul Afoko, the National Chairman of the party had also asked him to represent the party in the same court which Nana Obiri Boahen also challenged saying he was representing the party.
The source stated that in view of the turn of events, Kwabena Agyepong appeared as someone with a personal interest in the case pending before the court.
It disclosed that Kwabena Agyepong had not drawn the attention of Obiri Boahen to the matter before the court.
However, when contacted for comments, Nana Obiri Boahen said he was saddened and embarrassed by the turn of events adding that, ‘I weep for my party if this is how things will continue in it.’
