64th WAEC annual meeting opens in Accra

President John Mahama has formally opened the 64th Annual Council meeting of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) in Accra.

The five day meeting is being attended by delegates from Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Gambia.

President Mahama said examination fraud and forgery of certificates must be confronted directly and aggressively.

He said these practices threaten the very existence of WAEC and blurs the future of the continent’s youth.

President Mahama in this regard charged the WAEC to ensure that the malpractices that resulted in the 2015 BECE leakages and subsequent cancellation of the papers does not occur again.
