2016 global teacher prize winner pledges to support girls


The winner of this year’s global teacher award has pledged to use her prize money to support girls who have interest in education and teaching.

Hannan Al Hroub, a teacher from Palestine, won a huge amount of one million dollars as prize money for being the best teacher in the world.

She beat nine other teachers from the UK, USA, and Africa to become the second woman to win the amount after the awards were instituted two years ago.

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana after she was presented with her prize by the Vice President of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Hannan Al Hroub who was excited said the award reinforces the role of teachers as the world questions the future.
