2015 MAMA winners, Ghana loses out to stiff competition

dbanjThe winners for the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) were announced at an impressive awards night at the Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC), KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa Saturday.

Ghanaian nominees Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and Fuse ODG failed to win any award at this year’s event.

Sarkodie, who was nominated for the Best Male award, lost out to Nigeria’s Davido while Nigeria’s Patoranking beat Stonebwoy to the Best New Act award.

South Africa’s Jeremy Loops beat UK-based Ghanaian musician Fuse ODG to the Best Pop & Alternative award.

The 2015 MAMA witnessed exciting performances from some of the continent’s biggest acts including Stonebwoy, AKA, Burna Boy, Da LES, Sauti Sol, Yemi Alade, Diamond Platnunz, Flavour, Toofan, D’banj, Davido, Patoranking, K.O., Cassper Nyovest and P-Square.

Grammy award winning R&B artiste Neyo also performed at the event.
