GCCI calls on gov’t to assist business community

The Tema Regional Chairman of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Isaac Barry, says the government should assist the business community to industrialize and help to bring down the cost of doing business in the Country.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting on the Common External Tariff, CET, and the new GRA Income Tax Act 2005, Mr. Barry said it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to follow up on Ghanaian businesses which have made their intentions known to relocate and find ways of making them stay despite the down-turn of Ghana’s economy to help sustain the private sector which is the engine of growth.

The Chief Revenue Officer at the Tema Collection of the GRA, Dr Godfried Okoh Appiah, said the CET implementation will help businesses to thrive.
